PM Drone Didi Yojana

Drone Didi Yojana is a scheme that was launched by the Central Government of India. It is a scheme that was launched for the welfare of female self-help groups. 

It is a four-year project in which around 15000 drones will be distributed to Women's Self-Help Groups. It is also named the Namo Drone Didi scheme.

Launch Date

PM Narendra Modi launched this scheme on Thursday, 30th November 2023. Earlier he had talked about it on Independence Day from the Red Fort speech.

Key Facts on Drone Didi Yojana

  • It is a Scheme for Kisan Women's Self-Help Groups.
  • Launched by the Central Government for empowering women.
  • The central government is going to invest 1,261 crores in the coming 4 years for this scheme.
  • A drone will be provided for a cluster of 10–15 villages. 
  • One woman will be selected, known as drone Sakhi. She will get 15 days of training. The training session will be completed in two parts. 
  • She will also be provided Rs 15000 per month for it.
  • Drones, when used in agriculture, help a lot in saving time, and reducing labor costs.
  • It becomes easy to spray the required fertilizers on fields with drones.
  • It will help in the modernization of agriculture and the empowerment of women.
  • Equal distribution of urea, DAP, and pesticides will become easy with the help of drones.
  • Even the farmer does not need to go inside the field to put on DAP etc. to the crop. 
  • Drones can be managed from outside the farm.
  • These drones will be facilitated on rent.
  • The centre will bear 80% of the cost.
